Mandatory Director ID: support and resources

What has changed and where do I find support?

Director Identification Numbers (director ID) are a requirement for all company directors, designed to help combat illegal activity by making it easier to trace directors’ relationships with companies.

From November 2021, directors need to verify their identity on the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) website.  The ABRS is responsible for the implementation and administration of director IDs.

Once you have obtained your own director ID, you can view it online, and update your details at any time. Please click here for more information, including guidance regarding the application process.

Key dates for your calendar

The following dates outline key actions depending on your date of appointment as a director.

  • Date of appointment was on or before 31 October 2021 – you should have applied by 30 November 2022
  • Date of appointment was between 1 November 2021 and 4 April 2022 – you must apply within 28 days of your appointment
